Eritrea is a country in the North East of Africa. It is bordered by Sudan in the west, Ethiopia in the south, and Djibouti in the southeast. Postage stamps and postal history of Italian East Africa are related to stamps and their history issued by the Kingdom of Italy between 1936 and 1941 for use in Italian East Africa, called in Italian Africa Orientale Italiana (A.O.I.). In Eritrea was created the first official Italian possession in east Africa, called Colonia Eritrea: on January first, 1893 was issued the first Stamp series, followed by the first Postal cards with inserted stamps and by the first Post notes. Ned Indies (1883~1897)

From 1883 to 1890, the numerical issue without watermark was introduced for the Dutch East Indies postage. It was designed, engraved and printed by Joh. Enscheda & Sons Ltd.

From 1892 to 1897, the portrait issue depicting of Queen Wilhelmina without watermark was introduced for the Dutch East Indies postage. It was designed, engraved and printed also by Joh. Enscheda & Sons Ltd.

The colony comprised the settlements of Malacca, Singapore and Penang, which were incorporated under one government in 1826 and the administration transferred from India to the Secretary of State for the Colonies in 1867. The colony was dissolved in 1946 when Singapore became a separate crown colony. Malacca and Penang were incorporated into the Malayan Union, which became the Federation of Malaya in 1948. Stamps of India were used in Malacca, Penang and Singapore, 1854 ~1867.
