Preface
Herewith, we present the article in brief
contents, sourcing from the international point of view and our notable collection. A glance article, could be virtualized as a quick reference for those stamp
collectors who are interested in philatelic studies. It's a hoped that netizen
who focused on classic stamps collection, enjoying these
contents with concept of the “Virtual Library”, in addition with exploration of the treasure
points, either it’s well or newly known. In the nature of a spectacular
rise is scarcely to be expected. Enriched the contents is deemed necessary and periodically updating is an essential, so we be
more familiar.
Overview
Netherlands or Holland, a maritime kingdom in North
Western Europe. The first stamps were issued on January 1, 1852, vignette depicts
King William III (1817~1890), three face values were issued consists of 5c, 10c and 15c, inscribed
“Post Zegel” (postage stamp), watermarked ‘Posthorn' and imperforate. These stamps
were designed and engraved by J.W.Kaiser, use multiple plates. Normally, multiple
plates causes various colour shades, for Netherlands stamp cases, i.e face value of 5c at least 6 types of blue
colours were identified such as blue, light blue, milky blue, steel blue, blackish/greenish blue and dark blue.
Identifying a correct plate number i.e. Type 1 - 5c & 10c of 1852 issues are difficult. Each plate has different treasure points to be explored. One of the best reference could be NVPH catalogue. The initial step to identify the correct plate is evaluating from type of cancellations for used stamps. However, in case it’s a mint or unused stamp, you need to find other treasure points such as vignette features and words of “POST ZEGEL”.
In our collection, there are numerous face values with
more than one stamp for each face value. Hence, a comparison can be made such
as perforations, plates, colours and cancellation. In philatelic, a specialised collection is deemed necessary for certain issues of the stamps, especially involved
multiple plates. So we are able to evaluate and recognise which one is most valuable, rare and authentic.

Identification of
the plates are merely sorting from type of the cancellation, remarks at reverse
of the stamps wrote by former collectors and literature studies. The plates could be
wrongly marks because of blind-spot, when vignette was superseded by the cancellation.
We presume these are the best information to readers either beginners or
philatelist. Most likely, identification of plate bases on postmarks will be more
reliable and practically useful and also depends on plate retouches shades of the stamps.
According to international philately, 10c Plate IV was reprinted without watermarked
by Joh. A. Moesman, Utrecht, in 1895. This plate, bottom serif of figure '1' of '10', always colour deposited to inner left bottom frame line, a rarity stamp.
Refers to Scott Catalogue, identification of the plates are less important in comparison with colour shades, where steel blue is the highest CV.

In
1869, a new numeral postmarks were introduced and in use until 1893. These postmarks were also used for Dutch Colonies. The numeral postmarks indicated the city of
dispatch. At least 138 postmarks were distributed. Number 1 to 135 were used
for Post Office and rest 136 to 138 for railway offices. However, the actual
implementation could be mixed with other type of postmarks such as CDS and
Franco in frame.
