In early historical entities,
Palestine was formed a part of Turkey in Asia, and the Turkish Empire stamps
was abroad being used in Palestinian territories, administered by Great Britain under Mandate from the League of Nations.

Turkey Stamps used in Palestine before
1917
The
first printing of Palestine stamp was only appeared in 1917 with face value
of One piastre Indigo and watermark Royal Cypher in column. It was supplied
direct from Somerset House, London.

The
second issuance comprised of the One piastre was surcharged 5 milliemes. The
sheet was printed in cobalt blue and overprinted with the Arabic and English
indication. In 1918, the new series were launched with eleven face values
from 1 millieme to 20 piastres (in English Currency).

In
1920, the 3rd. Edition overprints using trilingual and
numerous of printed was flaws and error varieties could be found, most of them constant
all through several printing, while some reentry /retouches and some gorgeous
& rare.
The stamps overprints in Arabic, English and Hebrew, in
black on all values except One piaster in silver.

rare, high value. EV $10,000.

Jerusalem II with break between 'Sin' (S) & 'Tho' (T) or thicker overprints except 9p, 10p & 20p whereas Jerusalem III without breaks, between both Arabic line 10mm long.

There were other classic examples of the error at line 2nd (latin type) such as 'PALESTINF', 'PALBSTINB' and inverted overprints. Total at least 6 types of the error and most valuable stamps.

- London II prints uppercase & lowercase was longer than middle case of 'E' of PALESTINE.

- London II redrawn type perf. 15 x 14 for 5p, 9p, 10p and 20p.
- London II perf. 14 for 5p, 9p, 10p and 20p is scarce and high value.
London I and II Collection
In November 1920, the first printing of stamps
for Trans-Jordan was made and consisted of the two following E.E.F. stamps,
perforation 14, overprints “Sharqi Al-Urdun” in Arabic only 50 stamp sheets of
the 2 milliemes and 1,000 sheets of the
5 milliemes. These stamps had been used at a small area in the upper
part of the Jordan valley, east of the River Jordan and south of the Yarmuk
River, formed a part of the Sub-District of Balsan in Palestine. Due to limited
edition, these stamps could be classify as rare stamps.

Majority
of Palestine stamps with legible postmarks came from major cities of Palestine, Jerusalem,
Tel Aviv/Jaffa and Haifa. Few other postmarks are legible and some partially
handstamps.
