Spirit of Ceuta And Melilla: An Unique Spanish Territories Stamps in Africa

Overview

Ceuta (Sabtah) and Melilla (Maliliyyah), fragments of Europe on North Africa’s Mediterranean coast, came under Spanish control, Melilla in 1497 and Ceuta in 1580. The “Spanish of the two cities” is a like brother and sister, it may have some similarity like “Macao and Hong Kong” in China history.

The similarities between the two are striking. Both are military and naval bases dominated by fortified mountains, and both contain populations which are racially mixed but united in their fervent loyalty to a crown and autonomous regions as those on the main land.

Spirit Of Ceuta and Melilla

The golden sunset in Ceuta and Melilla, and the Spanish exclaves in Morocco for more than 500 years ago shows a unique gems in Africa. Ceuta and its larger sister city Melilla, some 250 miles further south along the coastline, have been a flashpoint in the Moroccan and Spanish diplomatic relations.
