Portuguese Colonies

East Timor is enclaved on the eastern of Timor Island, sharing with Indonesia, on the western part. East Timor was under Portuguese control from 1515 until 1975, Portugal shared the island of Timor with the Dutch East Indies. An invasion by Indonesia from 1975 until 2002. In 2002, East Timor was officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, is a country in Southeast Asia (SEA).

The first of independent East Timor stamps were issued on 20 May 2002 and were produced by Australia Post, before Indonesia stamps and Portuguese colonial stamps had been used.
